I am so sorry to hear from my father that my uncle Steve passed away yesterday. He was one of the kindest, wittiest and most empathetic individuals I have ever had the privilege of knowing in life. He always left me with the impression that what mattered the most to him in life was that you would laugh and feel better about yourself after having a conversation with him. In my opinion, that is one of the kindest gifts another human being can extend to a person. This is why I believe that he was such an extraordinary person. My most fond memories of him were from my childhood when he began dating my aunt Jeri. I recall as a child how happy everyone was to learn that the beautiful Jeri Accattato had agreed to marry him. I also have fond memories of their visit to Florida around 1979 when she was pregnant with my cousin Katie. I know my mother still has scrapbook pictures! Although I don’t spent a lot of time with family back east, when I have visited with Katie, Stevie and DJ, I see those rare wonderful qualities of my uncle Steve in each them which assures me that his legacy will continue on throughout life. I also know how fortunate my brother feels to be able spend time with them and not only call them his cousins but his friends. While there is not a person alive or dead without a flaw, the lesson my uncle Steve will always leave me with is that people need to be built up in life and not torn down even though it is so much easier to do the latter. I will never forget that lesson and I will never forget how much he tried to make people feel better about themselves and their lives. Thank you uncle Steve. Rest In Peace. Jeff Frederick
