Obituary of Anthony P. Perritano

FRANKFORT – Anthony P. “Skip” Perritano, age 71, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away on Sunday morning, February 23, 2020, in the privacy and comfort of his home. Born on May 14, 1948, Anthony was the son of the late Frank and Josephine (Seppi) Perritano. He was raised and educated locally, graduating with the Frankfort-Schuyler Class of 1967. As the years continued, Anthony went on to attend both Barber School as well as the Mohawk Valley Police Academy. On March 7, 1970, Skip was wed to the love of his life, the former Nancy Sportello, at St. Mary’s Church in Frankfort by Rev. Alfred A. Lamanna. This year will mark Skip and Nancy’s 50th wedding anniversary. They were truly a couple defined by togetherness and it was rare to ever see one of them without other. Skip was a man defined by hard work and a love for his family. He worked for eighteen years at the Union Fork & Hoe in Frankfort, as well as owning and operating his own barbershop on North Litchfield Street, and working as a security guard at the Masonic Home. He spent fifteen years as a police officer for the Village of Frankfort; a career path that his civic-minded sons both followed in, making Skip fiercely proud. He also volunteered his time in the Frankfort Fire Department, originally with company three, and has been a member there for almost fifty years. When Skip wasn’t working, he was most likely with his family. He enjoyed weekend dinners and watching the Buffalo Bills on television. He had an unmistakable laugh and a great sense of humor. He was a loyal and dedicated husband, a proud and supportive father and a doting grandfather. You couldn’t find a better man, neighbor or friend, and if Skip liked you, he let you know it. If he didn’t, he would let you know that too! He leaves his beloved wife, Nancy; his sons, Marcus Perritano and Michael Perritano, both of Frankfort; his daughter and son-in-law, Toniann and Sam Edwards, Jr. of Frankfort; his granddaughters, Jessica Quiles and husband, Noel, Brittany Edwards and Samantha Edwards; and his great-granddaugters, Alexandria Brown and Alyssa Quiles. He also leaves his sister, Francine Perritano of Frankfort; his brother-in-law, Ernie Sportello of Tennessee; an aunt, Rosemarie Button; an uncle, Don McShane; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, too numerous to mention. Besides his parents, Skip was predeceased by his in-laws, Louis and Roberta Sportello. A special thank you is extended to Chief Matt Palumbo for saving Skip’s life on more than one occasion and for being a constant support to him and his family. Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 3:00PM – 6:00PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. Skip’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday at 6:00PM at the funeral home, immediately upon the conclusion of calling hours. Spring interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions in Skip’s memory to either the Frankfort Fire Department, 158 South Litchfield St. Frankfort, NY 13340 OR to the Frankfort Police Benevolent Association, c/o Frankfort Village Hall, 110 Railroad Street, Frankfort, NY 13340. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The Perritano family has entrusted Skip’s services to Harry and Kevin Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia, funeral directors.
