Obituary of Pamela J. Vedder

STRATFORD – Mrs. Pamela J. Vedder, “Gigi”, age 58, of McClure Road, Town of Salisbury, passed away peacefully late Saturday afternoon, April 25, 2020, in the beautiful and serene surroundings of her home. It was a peaceful and comfortable moment for Pam, with all her loving family at her side. Pam even had the strength to await her family to be there with her which was a true testament to her determination and courage during this difficult time. Born on March 9, 1962, in Little Falls, New York, Pam was the daughter of Carol J. (Slater) and the late Irving E. “Junior” Boyer, Jr. She received her education in Dolgeville Central School, went on to receive an associate degree and on August 26, 1978 she was united in marriage to Douglas A. Vedder. Pam was currently working with Adirondack Well Drilling, of Oppenheim, New York. She worked as a caregiver with Lexington Center (Keyser Lake) and had also served as a Teacher Assistant at Dolgeville Central School Special Education Department at the high school. Pam was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Johnstown, New York. Her church family meant so much to her. She just loved it there. Together, Pam and Doug raised their family and Pam’s whole world centered around the well-being of her beloved husband, children and grandchildren. She would have her grandchildren at the house at any time and if it were up to her, all the time! She was excellent at crocheting especially blankets, a talent she picked up from Grandma Boyer. Faith and family were always held dear to her heart. She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 42 years, Douglas; and their cherished family, her mother, Carol Boyer; children, Jason Vedder and fiancée, Michelle Chmielewski, Jessica and Jason Costanza and Juleah and Matthew Wanner; her grandchildren, Jonathan, Ava and Jaxon Costanza, Greyson and Garrett Wanner, Allisandrina Vedder and James “Bubba” Vedder; her brothers, Jeffrey Boyer and his wife, Tammy, Brian Boyer and his wife, Tessa, Daniel Boyer and his wife, Donna and Gregg Boyer and his companion, Becky; her In-Laws, Edwin Vedder, Donald Vedder and his wife, Shirley, Gene Vedder and his wife, Donna and Gretchen Murphy; and several nieces and nephews. Pam’s dearest friends helped her and our family throughout her courageous battle, including Claire Dillard, Billie Jo Boyer and JoAnn Wengert. Pam was predeceased by her father, Irving Boyer, Jr.; her son, Jonathan Vedder; her dear nephew, Maxx; her granddaughter, Lilly; and her mother and father-in-law, Edwin and Sally Vedder. A big thank you to Dr. Perlanski and Dr. Flynn for your medical care and opening your hearts to Pam and our family. We would also like to thank everyone who we are not able to name for the support by way of prayer, kind words and donations throughout her battle. Pam’s family will gather in a private funeral service at their home, on Saturday, May 2, 2020, to bid their farewells to her. Her earthly remains will be laid to rest early Saturday afternoon in the family plot at Stratford Cemetery. There will be a public celebration of Pam’s life at a time to be announced in the future, at her church. Donations in loving memory of Pam will be used for the Children’s Ministry of the First Baptist Church, of Johnstown, NY or to the Cancer Treatment Center, of America, of Philadelphia, PA. These kind expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be mailed to Douglas Vedder, 383 McClure Road, Stratford, NY 13470. The family will then forward the donations accordingly. The Vedder family has honored Pam’s wishes and entrusted all arrangements to Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea and Martin L.
