Roy Leonard

Obituary of Roy Leonard

ILION - It is with great sadness that we announce that Roy Leonard passed away peacefully on January 7, 2021, at Albany Medical Center. During his early years, Roy lived with his parents until their passing in 2003. He then moved to the home of his brother and sister-in-law until 2009, at which time he moved to the Little Falls IRA and more recently the W. River Drive IRA. Roy still maintained a relationship with his brother Glen and his family. Roy was born March 28, 1962, to the late Roy Sr. and Paulene Leonard. In the past, Roy attended school and participated in sheltered employment which he really enjoyed. Whenever you asked Roy what one of his goals were, he would state it was to, “get a job.” Due to a decrease in his health, he eventually attended the Frankfort Day Hab Program. In his spare time, Roy enjoyed listening to music, especially the oldies. You would often find Roy singing to the classics or working on coloring sheets. Roy had fond family memories of New York City and Key West and often commented that he would like to visit those places again. He was able to make one of those dreams come true when he went to visit New York City and take in all the attractions. Roy was a Mets baseball fan and, although he never was able to see them play, he often attended the Diamond Dawgs games and other sporting events. Many thanks to the staff and clinicians for the wonderful care he received at both the Little Falls and West River Drive IRAs. A celebration of Roy’s life will be scheduled at a later date, at Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. His funeral arrangements have been coordinated with The Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, in Ilion, New York, Funeral Directors Harry J. Enea, Jr., Kevin E. Enea & Martin L. Ciaccia (315) 894-8000.
