Obituary of Philip M. Blake

HERKIMER – Mr. Philip M. Blake, age 59, a resident of North Caroline Street, in Herkimer, New York, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021. After a hard -fought battle, Phil was always blest to be in the thoughts and prayers of those he loved the most. He was born in Cooperstown, New York, on April 20, 1961, a son of the late Philip M. Blake and Beverly Pitt Blake. He was educated at Mount Markham Central School and graduated from there. His work career of 16 years was enjoyed at the Foltsbrook Center, in Herkimer, within the maintenance department. Phil was especially loved by all of his coworkers at Foltsbrook Center and in return, he shared the love right back to all of them. Phil was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and was a gifted mechanic. He could fix anything, especially with cars. He was a hardworking man who was always there for us and simply put, would give you the shirt off his back. He is survived by his beloved family: his daughter, Savannah Blake, of Herkimer; his partner, Angela Agne, of Herkimer; his sons, Jacob Ziegler, of Macon, Georgia and Alexander Grogan, of Herkimer; his siblings, Billie Giambrone and Vince, of Rome, New York, Fred Blake and his wife, Annie, of Deansboro, New York, Pam and Tom Maine, of Ilion, New York and Lorelyn Blake and Leon, of Cherry Valley, New York; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews and close personal friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Beverly; a brother, Daniel Blake; and his brother-in-law, Joseph Giambrone. Funeral services which will celebrate Philip’s life, will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021, at 6:00 PM in the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, in Herkimer, New York 13350. (315) 866-1011. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home, prior to the service, from 4 until 6 PM and attend the services to follow. The family then invites all to the Crowley-Barnum American Legion Post 25, 43 West Main St., Mohawk, NY, for dinner. On Friday, we prefer facemasks to be worn while in attendance.
