Obituary of Larry F. Hall

DOLGEVILLE – Mr. Larry F. Hall, born June 8, 1948, fell asleep in death on Wednesday morning, May 19, 2021, at the beautiful surroundings of his home in the Town of Salisbury, New York. He was surrounded by his family and friends. Larry was born to Barbara and Frank LaVenture, in Little Falls, New York and was adopted several years later by his maternal grandparents, Muriel and Benjamin Hall. In June of 1966, he graduated from Dolgeville Central School and has a two year degree from MVCC. He enlisted in the United States Air Force after high school, being honorably discharged in 1972. He later served with the United States Army nine years and six months, being honorably discharged in 1990. He worked various jobs including construction until becoming a law enforcement officer. He served with the Village of Dolgeville Police Department, the Village of Ilion Police Department and New York State Department of Corrections. He retired as a NYS LEO, in August of 2005. Larry married Barbara Balderston, on April 24, 1970, in the Lutheran Church, in Dolgeville. They just celebrated their 51st anniversary. Larry started studying the Holy Bible with his beloved wife Barbara on March 9, 1990, with Jehovah Witnesses. They were baptized together on July 6, 1991, in Syracuse. They started their life, “the real life”, serving Jehovah God, making the many changes needing to be made, none of which could be changed on one’s own. Jehovah, Jesus Christ, God’s “Gifts in Men” and a loving congregation all helped Larry make his life the best. Larry retired early so he could spend many years as a full-time volunteer minister, sharing in the world-wide Bible Education work of Jehovah’s Witnesses. After his love and worship of his God, Jehovah and his family, Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting and birding. Whenever the couple would go birding, Larry would hold Barbara’s hand. When Larry would spot a bird, he would pull over quickly and grab the binoculars to observe. Once the bird was spotted and they were on their way, he would resume holding Barbara’s hand until the next bird appeared. Survivors include his wife of over 51 years, Barbara; his children, daughter, Melissa Loomis, of Little Falls, son, Eric Hall (Rebecca), of Salisbury and son, Benjamin Hall, at home; grandchildren, Ashley, Adam, Dustin, Forest, Emma, Michael, Michelle; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Myla, Willow, Dustin, Lincoln and Sally. Also, three brothers, George Foster, 3rd, Gregory Foster and Geoff Foster; a sister, Kim Barnes (Randy); as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
