Obituary of Mary Monica Viparina

LITTLE FALLS – Mary Monica Viparina, age 90, a long-time Little Falls resident, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, June 21, 2021, at Little Falls Hospital. Her final days were comforted by her beloved family at her side. Born on May 30, 1931, Monica was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose (Corcoran) Nash. She was raised and educated in Little Falls and was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy. She was blessed with three children. While in her teens, Monica was employed by Western Union and later Woolworth’s Department Store. After starting a family, she was a stay-at-home mom to her children for some years before obtaining a position as a catalog saleswoman with JC Penney in Little Falls. She then went to work for over twenty years at Van Allen’s Nursing Home. Monica was a loving and supportive mother and grandmother who always led by example. She was intelligent, kind, independent and had a wonderful sense of humor. If circumstances had allowed, she would have loved to have gone on to college and become an attorney. Monica was an avid reader and proponent of lifelong learning and inspired her entire family with the same passion. Her wide and varied interests included psychology, alternative medicine, the paranormal, nutrition and healing, and human behavior. She loved angels and her home was full of all kinds of them along with, of course, books of angel stories. How fitting it is that she is now one herself. Monica is survived by her daughter, Mary Viparina and fiancé, Peter Johnson of Arizona; her son and daughter-in-law, David and Mary Jane Viparina of North Carolina; her son-in-law, Dennis Gray of St. Johnsville; her grandchildren, Meaghan Gray and fiancé, Alan Harris, Justin Gray and wife, Mary, Kayla Bastedo and husband, AJ, Hannah Benedict and husband, Dan, Olivia Viparina, and Julia Viparina; and great-grandsons Owen Gray and Grayson Harris. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Susan Gray, on March 22, 2013. In keeping with Monica’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A memorial service and burial will be held at a later date. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions to the Little Falls Public Library, 10 Waverly Place, Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes may be obtained by calling the funeral home or donations can be made online at https://www.lflibrary.org/donations/. Please be sure to notate “In Memory of Monica Viparina.” Monica’s final wishes were pre-arranged and entrusted to Harry and Kevin Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia, Funeral Directors of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY (315) 823-2424. Online notes of sympathy may be left at www.eneafamily.com.
