Obituary of Florida Provenzano

FRANKFORT – Mrs. Florida Provenzano, 99, a longtime Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully at Archstone Care Center, Chandler, Arizona, on Friday, August 6, 2021, with the love and support of family by her side. Born in Herkimer, New York, on March 4, 1922, Florida was the daughter of the late Sam and Ida (Cimino) Sciangalepore. She was educated in Herkimer Schools. On July 17, 1943, she married Guy Provenzano, Sr., in St. Anthony's Church, Herkimer, NY, by Father Purificato. The couple shared 58 years of love and mutual respect toward each other. Guy passed away on March 15, 2001. A very accomplished woman, Florida owned and operated her family business, Provenzano Brothers Market of San Fernando, California for fifty years. She was of the Catholic faith and attended Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort. As a longtime active member of the community, Florida also enjoyed member ships with the St. Francis Society, the Red Hat Society, The Young at Heart Senior Citizens, the Addolorata Society and enjoyed playing cards with several different groups. As a loving and very family oriented individual, Florida enjoyed a special bond with her husband Guy and her son, Guy, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Cosmina, who she loved dearly as a daughter, and was a devoted aunt and friend to many. Florida is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Guy Provenzano and his wife, Cosmina, of Maricopo, Arizona, of Utica; a sister, Gloria Townsend of California; her beloved granddaughter, Toni Provenzano; cherished great-grandchildren, Ashley Anderson and Ilianna Lebron; and special nieces and nephews and friends who deserve our gratitude as well. We would like to offer our most sincere special thanks to Florida’s longtime friend and confidant Darlene Abbatecola and her husband, Tom for all the loving care that they gave her. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Mary and Janette; her brother, Carl; and her special dog, Gizmo. A graveside service for family and friends will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021, at 12 noon. This Interment service will take place in Frankfort Hill Cemetery, 2338 Albany Rd., Frankfort, NY, where she will be laid to rest, with Deacon Jim Bower, officiating. Please, if so willing, remember Florida with a contribution to Hospice of the Valley, East Clinical Office, 2020 E. Woodside Ct., Gilbert, AZ 85297, or a charity of one’s choice. The family is being cared for by Harry J. and Kevin E. Enea and Martin L.
