Obituary of Richard G. Treen

Mr. Richard G. “Dick” Treen, age 82, beloved husband of the late Marie G. Treen, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, August 28, 2021, at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center. Born on April 13, 1939, Richard was the son of the late Edward and Ruth (Loomis) Treen.Richard was one of sixteen children. He was born and raised in the Town of Schuyler. On March 23, 1963, Richard was joined in marriage to Marie G. DeFazio and together they spent over fifty-seven years in a loving and devoted union. As a couple, Marie and Dick were inseparable and always there for one another through both good times and bad. A piece of Dick went with Marie when she passed on December 17, 2020 and their family takes comfort in knowing that the two are once again reunited in Heaven. The majority of Richard’s working years were spent as the owner of his own successful business, “Dick’s Body Shop”. He not only performed body and paint work but also mechanical work on all vehicles. He loved working on vehicles but could also do any type of household work there was. Richard was a “Jack of all trades” and was not afraid to tackle anything no matter how big or how small. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to the car races in Fonda, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed trips to the casino, playing Bingo and going to garage sales with his wife, Marie. Above all else, however, was the love that he had for his children and grandchildren; his presence will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Richard is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kristen Treen of North Utica and his daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Raymond “Buzzy” DeLuke of Vonore, Tennessee. Always in his heart was the memory of his beloved daughter, Terri Treen, who passed away on September 13, 2015. He also leaves his four grandchildren, Joseph Swienton, James Swienton, Michael DeLuke and Marissa Herrick; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center for their care and compassion throughout Richard’s final days. The Treen family will gather in a private ceremony to bid their farewells. Final arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000, Harry and Kevin Enea and Martin L.
