Obituary of Donald C. Young

ILION – Donald C. Young, age 71, of London Towers, Ilion, NY, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021. He moved on peacefully in his home. He was born on July 10, 1950, in Ilion, NY. He was the son of Clarence W. Young and Frances (Gundy) Young. Don attended Mohawk High School. He worked for 30 years at Union Fork and Hoe (later Union Tool Co.) as a fork lift operator. He was married in 1970 to Paulette Senft. They were married for 8 years and had two beautiful children (Donny and Sherri). Don was an avid Motorcycle Rider. His love of riding started as a teenager. He was well loved and known throughout the community of Motorcycle Clubs here in NY. Don spent much of his time participating in fundraiser rides, benefits and motorcycle festivals. His passion for riding was passed down to his son Donny. They spent many a day riding with their friends, Mark, Kenny, Bear, Bill and his girlfriend, Gwenn. Dad rode his beloved Harley right up to the day he passed. We will miss him dearly and forever hold him in our hearts. Surviving family members include his son, Donald J. Young and daughter-in-law, Lisa, of Canajoharie, NY; his grandsons, Zachary and Brandon Young, of Beaumont, TX; his daughter, Sherry Arsenault and her husband, John and their two sons, Johnny and Jeremiah, of Newport, NY; his brother, Albert Young and his wife, Nancy, of Mohawk, NY; and also several nephews, nieces and cousins, including Mark Gay, his nephew and closest friend. He was predeceased by his parents and several brothers and sisters, including Joseph Davis, Francis Davis, Mabel Ferguson, Mellissa Pierce and Elsie Gay. A Memorial/Fundraiser Motorcycle Ride will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at 10 a.m. It will start at the Crowley-Barnum American Legion Post 25, at 43 West Main St., in Mohawk, NY.
