Obituary of Ann Patricia MaLoon

FRANKFORT – Ms. Ann “Patty” MaLoon, age 75, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, January 27, 2022, with her loving and devoted daughter, Jo-Lynn, at her bedside. Her passing occurred at the Masonic Care Community of CNY where she has been a resident. Born on March 21, 1946, Patty was the daughter of the late Guilio C. and Jennie L. (Campione) Conigliaro. She was raised and educated in Frankfort and was a graduate from Frankfort-Schuyler High School with the Class of 1964. Patty was a hardworking woman who was employed at one time for Bank of America and at Frankfort High School as a truant officer. Her last employment, however, was with as a Customer Service Representative with Utica Cutlery where she happily worked alongside her daughter for eleven years until her retirement. Patty’s life revolved around her beloved family and nothing gave her greater joy than any time she spent with them. She had many fond memories of good times at her brother’s camp on Canadarago Lake throughout the years. She also enjoyed her holidays and Sunday BBQs alongside the Zegarelli family, who considered her one of their own and whom she loved dearly. Anyone who knew Patty, know how dedicated she was to her son, RJ, throughout the years. She acted not only as his health advocate but as his personal caregiver and remained by his side every step of the way until his illness took him from her. She also shared a special bond with her daughter, Jo-Lynn, who was by her mother’s side throughout everything, including her illness these last years. Her devotion was matched by only that of her mother’s. In her free time, Patty was skilled at the art of crocheting and created beautiful pieces to share with her family and friends. She also loved to shop, especially with her friend, Judy. And lastly, who could forget how much she loved music and that she truly was a dancing queen! Patty is survived by her beloved daughter, Jo-Lynn Zegarelli and husband, David, of Utica; by her son, Michael MaLoon and husband, Michael Dick; always in her heart was the memory of her beloved son, Richard “RJ” MaLoon, who passed away on March 9, 2007. She also leaves her granddaughters, Tess MaLoon, and Gabriella Zegarelli, who was the light of her grandmother’s life; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Maryann Conigliaro of South Carolina, Sam Conigliaro of Frankfort and Tony and Dot Conigliaro of California; many special nieces and nephews; and her beloved friends, Judy Butts, JoAnn Wheeler, Millie Spaman and Candice Cesari. Aside from her parents and beloved RJ, Patty was predeceased by her dear friend, Mary Pedone; and by her very special aunt, Josephine Lunievicz, who was like a mother to her. Patty’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and appreciation to the amazing caregivers and nursing staff at the Masonic Care Community of CNY, particularly in the Forestport Unit, for going above and beyond to make Patty and her family feel warm, loved and cared for. Making these unbearable times more tolerable was the greatest gift the MaLoon family could ever receive. A special thanks is also extended to Jo-Lynn’s dear friend, Nicole Manley and husband, Dwayne, for their unending love and support. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Patty’s funeral service which will commence on Saturday morning, February 5, 2022, at 10:30AM at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort where her Funeral Mass will be offered by Rev. Paul Catena, Pastor. The family will receive visitors upon the conclusion of Mass.
