Obituary of Pietrina LoRe

The family of Mrs. Pietrina “Patricia” LoRe, sadly announces her passing which occurred on Thursday morning, May 26, 2022 at the MVHS St. Elizabeth Campus. She was 87 years old. Born in San Giuseppe Jato, Sicily on April 8, 1935, Pietrina was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Providenza (Tomasino) Marchese. She was raised and educated in Italy and on April 30, 1958, she was united in Holy matrimony to Giuseppe “Joseph” LoRe. Together, Joe and Pietrina shared in a blessed and devoted union of sixty-one years, until Joe’s passing on March 30, 2020. After immigrating to the United States, Pietrina and Joe made their home in Frankfort, where together they raised their children on traditional Italian values of hard work, importance of family and strong faith in God. While Joe went off to work, Pietrina’s focus was on the upbringing of their children and the well-being of their home. Pietrina was a humble woman who could more often times than not be found in her kitchen; always something frying on the stove and baking in the oven. She took great pride in feeding and providing for her husband, children and grandchildren. She had a particular knack for taking items from her husband’s garden and turning them into feasts for her loved ones; especially when cooking her homemade tomato sauce. Nothing made her happier than when her family and friends surrounded her dinner table. She held a strong devotion to her Catholic faith and was a life member of the Columbiana Society. Her and her husband were longtime parishioners of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort. She is survived her daughter, Carmelina LoRe-Cooper and husband, John of Frankfort; her sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Teresa LoRe of Clinton, Joseph and Yvonne LoRe of Liverpool and Dominick “Enzo” LoRe of Frankfort; her grandchildren, Joseph LoRe, Danielle LoRe, Joseph Cooper, Olivia LoRe, Victoria Duffy and husband, Dylan, and Sophia LoRe; and her great-granddaughters, Joey and Frankie. She also leaves her special brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Kathy Marchese; her in-laws, Paolo Ciresi and Franca LoRe; along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and husband; her grandson, Frank LoRe; brother, Alfonso Marchese; sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and John LaSorsa; and in-laws, Teresa Ciresi, Dominick LoRe and Concetta D’Amico. A special thank you is extended to the Alpine caregivers as well as the doctors and staff of the St. Elizabeth ICU and Emergency Room for the professionalism, compassion and care shown to Pietrina throughout her last days.
