Obituary of Donna M. Warner

ILION – Mrs. Donna M. (Walawender) Warner, age 72, a lifelong Mohawk Valley resident, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown. Born in Herkimer on July 4, 1950, Donna is the daughter of Carmella Barbara (Sweet) Walawender and the late Andrew Frank Walawender. She was raised and educated in Herkimer schools. On October 10, 1981, Donna was wed to Harold L. Warner at the Newport United Methodist Church and together they shared in a blessed union of almost forty-one years. For 26 years Donna was employed by the Folts Home in Herkimer where she retired as a Dietary Cook Supervisor. She made many lasting friendships with her co-workers and clients alike. Donna was a very family-oriented woman who loved nothing more than being surrounded by as many of her family members as she could fit in her apartment! She frequently babysat for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren throughout the years. In her spare time, Donna loved to cook, go fishing and try her luck at scratch-off lottery tickets! She also had the most amazing green thumb. She was never afraid to give her opinion and she always had words of love and encouragement for those she held dearest to her heart. Donna is survived by her beloved husband, Harold; her mother, Carmella Walawender; her children, Michelle Eysaman, Melissa and Christopher Balch, Scott Eysaman, Andrew Warner, Jeff Warner, Dennis and Peg Warner, Theresa Warner and Laura Rana; her grandchildren, Kayla and Matthew Knoblauch, John Eysaman, Ryan Balch, Tyler Balch, Nicholas Eysaman, Caspian Warner, Sara Warner, Nicholas Warner, Max and Leena Warner, Steven Warner, Justin and Lizzie Warner, Ayesha Rana, Alina Rana, Chris Markwardt, and Shawn and Brittany Markwardt; and her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Leland, Bailey, Hayden, Hunter, Kinsley, Addilyn, Calypso, Toby, Taryn, Bellamy, Silas and Landon. She also leaves her sister, Judy Walawender; her brother, Walter Walawender; her sister-in-law, Deloris Walawender; and her fur-baby, Bear Bear. Aside from her father, she was predeceased by several aunts and uncles. In keeping with Donna’s wishes, there will be no public services. Her family will gather together in a private ceremony to bid their farewells. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
