David "Joe" Cristman 1936 - 2004 Mr. David "Joe" Cristman , 67, of Mohawk (Town of Stark), beloved husband of Barbara A. Cristman, passed away, unexpectedly on Thursday morning, January 1, 2004. He was born on December 27, 1936 in Herkimer, and was educated in Herkimer schools. He was united in marriage with Barbara A. Fiedler on August 28, 1970 in Schuyler. Joe proudly served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Army. He enlisted on December 8, 1955 and was honorably discharged on May 31, 1962. He was at one time employed with Remington Arms in Ilion. He was formerly the supervisor of Mountainview Memorial Gardens in the Town of Little Falls and was employed by the New York State Thruway Authority. Mr Cristman was an accomplished musician and played guitar with the Ronnie Smith Band and with many bands throughout the area. He was of Catholic faith. Joe was a member of the American Rifle Association and was an avid train collector. Survivors include his beloved wife Barbara of Mohawk, his mother in law, Charolotte Fiedler of Mohawk, a son, Michael W. Cristman and wife Susan of Mohawk, two grandchildren, William and Matthew Cristman, many nieces, nephews, cousins and inlaws. He also leaves behind many dear friends. He was predeceased by Marian Cristman Haggerty, Willard and Rita Cristman, Ann and Myron Cristman. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Friday, January 2, 2004 (today) from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Joe's funeral will commence at 2:30 pm on Saturday, January 3, 2004 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered by Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor of St. Francis De Sales Church, Herkimer. Committal will be held this spring in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer.
