Obituary of Helen Cotter

Mrs. Helen M. Cotter, age 83, formerly of 629 Albany St., Little Falls and most recently residing with her daughter Noreen Zysk at 143 Millennium Court, Little Falls went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, April 5, 2003 in Little Falls Hospital. She was surrounded with the love and support of her family at the time of her passing. Mrs. Cotter was born on January 10, 1920 in Little Falls a daughter of the late James and Nora (Sullivan) McDonnell. She received her education at St. Mary's Academy in Little Falls and furthered her education by attending the College of Saint Rose. She was a lifelong Little Falls resident. She was joined in marriage with J. Robert Cotter on November 24, 1945 at St. Mary's Church in Little Falls. Mr. Cotter passed away on January 26, 1997. She was last employed by the former New York Telephone Company as an operator and she also worked for the Herkimer County Board of Elections. Mrs. Cotter's religion was very important to her and she was a faithful communicant of the Holy Family Parish, Little Falls. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish Rosarians. She truly enjoyed being with her friends at the breakfast club and the card club. Helen leaves her beloved son, Edward Cotter of Little Falls, three loving daughters, Noreen Zysk and husband Stanley of Little Falls, Elizabeth Cone of Little Falls and Cathy Carpineti and husband David of Little Falls, a daughter in law, Ann Cotter of Little Falls, a brother-in-law, Thomas Burns of Burlington, VT, grandchildren James, Andrew and Sharon, and Walter Zysk, Shauna, Laura, and Ellen Cone, Bill, Kaitlin, and Nora Carpineti, also great granddaughter Kaylan Marie Zysk. Several nieces and nephews of the Burns and Long family. In addition she leaves several cousins. She was predeceased by a son James in November 2002 and sister Catherine Burns in December 2001. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls on Monday, April 7, 2003 from 5-8 p.m. Mrs. Cotter's funeral will begin on Tuesday morning, April 8 at 10:00 am from the chapel of the funeral home where prayers will be offered by Sister Marilyn Hayes, CSJ and at 11am from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Streets, Little Falls where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Charles R. Celeste, pastor. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer where she will be laid to rest in the family plot. Kindly consider remembrances in honor of Mrs. Cotter to the to the Holy Family Parish Restoration Fund or to the Little Falls Community Outreach; envelopes are available at the funeral home. The family extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Perlanski and her staff, along with the staff at Little Falls Hospital especially mentioning the Intensive Care Unit for their much appreciated concern, compassion and kindness. Members of the Holy Family Parish Rosary Society will gather at the funeral home at 6pm on Monday evening to conduct their service.
