Obituary of Harold Hoffman

Harold A. Hoffman, 89, of 17 W. Liberty St., St. Johnsville, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Little Falls Hospital after a short illness. He was born May 3, 1913, in Canajoharie, son of the late James Sr. and Mary (Welch) Hoffman. Harold was educated in Canajoharie schools and lived most of his life in the St. Johnsville area. His marriage to Margaret Nellis took place on October 24, 1936. They shared a blessed union of marriage for 65 years, until the passing of Mrs. Hoffman on August 8, 2002. Mr. Hoffman worked at Palatine Dyeing Co. until his retirement. Harold was a member of St. John's Reformed Church in St. Johnsville. Survivors include two sons, Donald Hoffman and wife Linda of St. Johnsville and Kevin Hoffman of Fort Plain; a daughter, Patricia Hoffman of Lincoln, Neb.; his grandchildren, Todd, Daren, Paul, Donald Jr. and Taylor Hoffman; his step-grandchildren, Thomas and Lynette Oare; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Hailey, Meghan, Michael, Chloe and Grace Hoffman; step-great-grandchildren, Chad and Ryan Morey, McKayla Hayner and Kenidee Oare; a brother, William Hoffman and wife Jean of St. Johnsville; a sister-in-law, Isabelle Hoffman of Fort Plain; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Paul, in 1965; his brothers, Clifford, James, Charles and George Hoffman; and his sisters, Dorothy Abling, Catherine Perry and Elizabeth Hoffman. In keeping with Harold's wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday, April 8, at 11 a.m. from St. John's Reformed Church in St. Johnsville with Reverend James Foster officiating. Interment will take place in St. Johnsville Cemetery later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to St. John's Reformed Church or to S.A.V.A.C. Envelopes will be available at the church.
