My Dearest Brother, We laughed, we cried, we shared some secrets....but most of all we shared our love. I promise you that I will forever remember you and your children will never, never be foregotten by me or the rest of the family. You always said Jim, life is short...live it to the fullest...you did..and in your short lifetime, you touched more lives than one could count...to anyone who knows my brother, this is what Sprituality really is and so God does live on in anyone who Jimmer touched. It is your turn to be given the love you so deserve. And Diane thank you for being there for my brother, your quiet but powerful nature made his last days healing days and you know what I mean. I love you guys, and until we meet again, and I know we will, I will remember you always. And please Jim, try not to whip us into shape too much...I am so laughing...for you know what I mean. I love you Jim, Debbie

I have known Mr.C(I could never call him Jim, even after all these years-it seemed disrespectful) since I was old enough to sing with him in the church choir-and now my children had the pleasure of knowing him through his teaching. He was a special man with a special gift-he connected with the kids that he taught, and it showed in the respect and the admiration that they felt for him. Mr.C-even though the guitar lessons you gave me never took, I will remember you with a song and a smile always. To his family, my thoughts and prayers are with you. The world has truly lost a ray of light.

My deepest sympathy to the friends and family of Mr. C - may god be with you at this time of need. I had the pleasure of being in his distance learning Calculus class of Dolgeville-Herkimer. He was a one of a kind teacher, and made Calc a fun class. I will never forget our end of the year trip to the Great Escape, and going on the log ride with Mr. C - he sat behind us so he could splash water on us - and we got soaked. We had a great time - I will never forget that.

Mr.C as he was so affectionately known by all of his students, was a great mentor, who opened so many of his students minds with the philosophy that they could achieve anything that they set their minds to do. His quote of S.U.C.C.E.S.S., was so much a part of his teaching. He was my favorite teacher. He will be sadly missed by all of his present and "old" students. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.

Mr. C - you will truly be missed. To the whole Cooney family - my thoughts and prayers are with you at this very tough time. I have known Mr. C my whole life as our families were close over the years and he taught me guitar many years ago which had an impact on my life as I have gone on to a career in music and theatre. It was just this past June that I was home for the Violet Festival and I had lunch one afternoon at the school cafeteria. I sat with Mr. C and we had a wonderful talk catching up and reminiscing. He was one of a kind and will be forever missed.

To Mr. C: I may have never told you that you were my favorite teacher, but over the years I have told a number of my own students. I have carried with me the countless lessons you taught in the classroom and on the softball diamond. The world has been made a better place by you and all those you have touched for generations. You will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you families.

Mr. C was one of a kind. He was the type of teacher that every student wanted to learn from. His sense of humor, respect and attitude were traits that few teachers possess and many admire. Whether he was teaching in a classroom, acting in a play or coaching on the field, he always gave 100 percent, and he always did it with a smile. He is a great loss to the whole community and there is one less angle here on earth. To his family; my deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Deanne Walczak Your Joy is your sorrow unmasked. When you are joyous, look deep into your heart, and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is given you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. The Prophet -Kahlil Gibran

Dear Mr. Cooney: I will never forge you. During this past year, you taught me more things than many people taught me during my whole life. I will always remember your nice smile and how made us laugh during class. You are going to be forever in my mind and in my heart. I will miss you always. Sincerely, Virginia

Mr. Cooney - I knew you when you were "Jimmer" and then, when I had the pleasure of having you as a Calculus teacher in your early days of teaching at DCS, I also knew you as "Mr. Cooney". I think my Dad - Mr. Tripodi, an Algebra teacher at DCS - was a mentor of yours in those days,so another special connection for me. My thoughts and prayers go out to your children and to your family during this difficult time. When I think of Mr. Cooney, I think of just the "best guy" -never a cross word, always a ready smile, and always giving to others. The entire community of Dolgeville and beyond will surely miss your smiling face. Just knowing that you are gone makes me feel sad in my heart, but I know that you are in Heaven and my Dad is welcoming you with open arms once again.

I think what made Mr. C. such an extraordinary person was his ability to elavate his students. He never capped anyones potential. He continually raised the bar and his students responded. He believed we could all be better people and through that belief we were. It was a standard he held himself to as well. He never settled into a routine to ride life out, he was always trying to do it better. He will be truly missed. May God bless him and his family and thank God for the teacher he was.

Mr. Cooney, I will never forget the times we sang together. When I was in 6th grade, you were the Scarecrow and I was Dorothy in a variety show. You made sure it was fun, and reassured me when I was nervous. Thank you for the gift of song you helped me give my Dad when he was dying. When my mom asked if you could help me make a tape for him, you went the extra mile and arranged everything "just like that." You were always reaching out to others and helping any way you could. You are greatly missed. Love and prayers to your family.
