Obituary of Stanley Lipiec

LITTLE FALLS – Mr. Stanley Lipiec passed away peacefully on December 8, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Utica at the age of 93. Stanley was born in Little Falls on February 2, 1922, the son of the late Vincent and Josephine (Bishusshi) Lipiec. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army (325th AAF Base Unit) from August 1942 until February 1946, and was awarded the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Stanley lived his entire life in the Little Falls area, until he needed extra care and spent his last four years as a resident of Valley Health Services in Herkimer, NY. He was of the Roman Catholic faith and a member of Holy Family Parish in Little Falls. Stanley was joined in matrimony to Dorothy Brooks on May 8, 1948 in Sacred Heart Church in Little Falls and they were married for 44 years, until Dorothy’s passing on May 15, 1992. Stanley and Dorothy brought eight children into this world, and together, managed their dairy farm on Bellinger Road in the Town of Danube throughout their years. Stanley was an avid hunter and trapper in his younger days, and later found his enjoyment from attending gun shows and garage sales. Stanley was predeceased by his parents, and his wife Dorothy, as well as his brothers, Walter Lipiec, Paul Lipiec and John Lipiec. He also had a toddler sister and an infant brother who did not survive the boat trip from Poland in the early 1900s. Stanley is survived by his five sons, Thomas Lipiec and his friend Kathleen Schofield of West Edmeston, James Lipiec and his wife Kay (Dillenbeck) of Little Falls, Daniel Lipiec and his wife Sametta (Shaw) of Ilion, Joseph Lipiec and his wife Lisa (Tobler) of Fort Plain, and David Lipiec of Little Falls; and his three daughters, Elizabeth and her husband Frederick Zerbst of Stratford, Patricia and her husband Robert Backus of Sykesville, MD, and Mary and her husband David Schwasnick of Mohawk. Stanley is also survived by his grandchildren, Tammy Vogle, James Nabinger, Katherine Miller, Jeremy Lipiec, Michele LaGrange, Jennifer and her husband Michael Bushardt, Nicole Lipiec, Wendy Shafer, Ashley and her husband Michael Pelletier, Amy Cook, Stephanie Lipiec, and Phillip Lipiec. He was predeceased by a granddaughter Eliza Schwasnick in 2002. Stanley also leaves his great-grandchildern, Samantha and her husband Anthony Edgett, Amber Vogle, Kelly Vogle, Benjamyn LaGrange, Jacob LaGrange, Taylor Bushardt, Zackery Bushardt, Ethan Pelletier and Wyatt Cook. He also leaves behind his cousins, the Kapala’s and the Ucasz’s, as well as many nieces and nephews and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY (315) 823-2424, from 6:00PM – 9:00PM, on Friday evening, December 11, 2015. His funeral service will commence on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 9:15AM from the funeral home and at 10:00AM from Holy Family Parish, corner of John/E. Main St., Little Falls, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Terence Healy. Procession will follow to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, where he will be laid to rest, with full military honors. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Harry J. and Kevin E.
