Obituary of Oluta W. Donovan

LITTLE FALLS: Oluta W. Donovan, 93, a longtime Little Falls resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Loretto Health Rehabilitation Center, Syracuse. She was born on September 27, 1922 in Little Falls and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Julia (Zilkowski) Widanka. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 1941. On January 18, 1947, Oluta was united in marriage to Richard B. Donovan and the couple shared a union of 42 years before his passing on December 28, 1990. During her working years, Oluta was employed at the Kozy Korner Restaurant, a business that her parents owned for many years. She also worked as a switchboard operator at National Auto Fibre in Little Falls and then relocated to Huntsville, AL and worked at Cheesebrough Ponds. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Little Falls for many years and later Holy Family Parish and their Rosary Society. She loved her church and would participate in numerous ways. She enjoyed volunteering at Catholic Charities, as well as other organizations and was very active in her daughters Girl Scout Troop. Oluta loved to entertain and was a marvelous cook. She was loved by so many for her generosity, compassion and her wonderful outlook on life. She had a smile that lit up the room. In her spare time she enjoyed bowling and was an avid animal lover. She adored her dogs, Jackson and Dixie. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Teague and her husband, Ralph (Eddie) of Adams, TN; her cherished granddaughter, Amanda Leigh Messer and her husband, Scotty, as well as her nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, James Donovan in 1996, a granddaughter, Christina Marie Teague in 2001, a brother, Bogus Widanka and a niece, Barbara Bonanni. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Holy Family Parish; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls (315) 823-2424, from 9:30-10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 29, 2015. Her funeral service will commence at the end of visitation, beginning at 10:30 AM from the funeral home and at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish, corner of John /E. Main Sts. Little Falls, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Terence Healy, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Procession will then follow to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest. The family is being cared for by Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea, Funeral Directors.
