Obituary of Olga E Celebi

LITTLE FALLS – Mrs. Olga E. (Slabe) Celebi, a longtime resident of Little Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer. She was just a week shy of her 88th birthday. Born on April 8, 1928, Olga was the daughter of the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Mizerak) Slabe. She was raised and educated in Mohawk and graduated from Mohawk High School. On October 23, 1948, Olga was wed to James Celebi and the two shared in a loving union of over fifty years, until James’ passing in 2000. For many years, Olga worked as a tea packer for Salada Foods in Little Falls retiring in 1990. She also spent time as a seamstress for P & K Dress Shop in Little Falls. Olga’s family will forever remember her as a talented cook who enjoyed utilizing her culinary skills to gather her family around the table. Her sweet, kind, soft-spoken and warm demeanor was endearing to all who knew her. She was a gentle soul with a big heart, and her loving ways will be missed by those she loved the most. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Charles Coville of Rome, and her daughter Mary DeLuca and her companion, Mike Evans of Little Falls; her son and daughter-in-law, James S. and Mary Celebi of Bloomfield, NY; her grandchildren, Jaime and Christopher Cleveland, Charles, Jr. and Mary Coville, Sarah DeLuca, Rachel DeLuca, Jessie Celebi and Sam Celebi; and her great-grandchildren, Ian Coville, Isaiah Coville and Nathaniel Cleveland. She also leaves her brother, Frank Slabe of Mohawk, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward and John Slabe. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Olga’s visitation, which will take place from 4PM-7PM on Friday, April 1, 2016, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY, 13365. Olga’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday morning, April 2, 2016, at 10:00AM from the chapel of the funeral home, with Pastor Laurie Percival Pauley officiating. Procession will follow to St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Herkimer, where Olga will be laid to rest beside her husband, James.
