Obituary of Regina (Reggie) E. Kuzmak

Little Falls, NY - Regina (Reggie) E. Kuzmak, 91, a longtime resident of 26 Summit Avenue, Little Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes, New York. Born on February 24, 1925 in Little Falls, Reggie was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Slumberger) Marosek. She was raised and educated in Little Falls. On June 4, 1949, Reggie was wed to John (Ky) Kuzmak and the two shared in a loving marriage of over fifty years, with Ky passing in 1999. For many years, Reggie worked as a tea packer for Salada Foods. Throughout her life, Reggie maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. She was a strong, compassionate, hard-working woman, who delighted in her children and grandchildren. Her smile was infectious and she endeared herself to family, friends, and strangers alike. She was warm hearted and giving, devoting many years of her life to caring for her parents, in-laws, and friends. She was loved by many and she will be greatly missed by all. Reggie enjoyed cooking and baking: her fried chicken, biscuits, macaroni salad, and pierogi were culinary delights. Reggie was also an avid gardener who loved planting and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. Reggie and Ky raised their two cherished daughters, Pat and Nancy, in their close-knit Summit Avenue community. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jeffrey Schaffer of Latham, and her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dr. David Vallecorsa of Latham; her grandchildren, Rachel Schaffer Lawson (Tyler Lawson), Dr. Gregory Vallecorsa, Jillian Kornak (Christopher Kornak), Jonathan Vallecorsa, and Erica Vallecorsa. She also leaves her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Walter and Doris Kuzmak, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Walter, John, and Edward Marosek and her twin sister, Rose Pezdek. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Reggie’s funeral mass, which will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at the Holy Family Parish, 763 E. Main Street, Little Falls, NY, 13365. The immediate family will then proceed to St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Herkimer, where Reggie will be laid to rest beside her husband, Ky. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, 139 South Lake Avenue, Albany, NY 12208.
