Obituary of Jane Miosek

LITTLE FALLS: Mrs. Jane “Jennie” Miosek, age 94, of Little Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 18, 2017, at St. Johnsville Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. She was born on August 13, 1922 in Little Falls, NY a daughter of the late Jacob and Catherine (Lapajne) Prestopnik and was educated at St. Mary’s Academy. Jane loved her children and grandchildren, to cook, crochet, sing, and play the harmonica. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish, as well as at one time the Fort Plain VFW Post Auxiliary, the Rock City Senior Citizens, and the Slovenian Home. She is survived by her four daughters, Mary Ann Murphy and husband Dr. J. Bryan Murphy of Clearwater, Florida, Sharon Torzewski of Iselin, New Jersey, Catherine Wezalis and her husband Robert Wezalis of Milford, New Hampsire, and Maxine Shuster and her husband Paul Shuster of St. Johnsville, her grandchildren, Christine Torzewski, Lisa Torzewski, Michelle Torzewski, Christopher Wezalis, Michael Wezalis, Jessica Shuster and her partner David Molina, Dr. Sarah Shuster Snell and her husband Jason Snell, Tiffany Shuster Case and her husband Steve Case, and Simon Shuster, her great-grandson, Oliver Case, her sisters-in-law, Frances Prestopnik and Sue Prestopnik of Little Falls, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Prestopnik, Frances Mundschenk, and Catherine Coons, and brothers Jacob Prestopnik, Frank Prestopnik, John Prestopnik and Vincent Prestopnik. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main & John Streets in Little Falls with the Rev. Terence Healy officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Those wishing to remember Jane Miosek in a special way are asked to send a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research in her memory. The family is grateful for the special care received at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. There are no calling hours.
