Obituary of Alfredo "Al" Pescatore

 

LITTLE FALLS – Mr. Alfredo “Al” Pescatore, age 94, of Little Falls, NY, passed away on Thursday January 25, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, NY with devoted family at his side.

 

He was born in Naples, Italy on October 6, 1923, son of the late Amadeo and Anna (Ceiro) Pescatore. He came to the United States in 1948 and that is when he and the former Jennie DeLuis joined in marriage at St. Joseph’s Church in Little Falls. He served in the Italian Navy and was a renowned Featherweight European Boxing Champion. He was the operating manager of the Herkimer Boxing Club for many years. Al worked with Remington Arms, Ilion, NY as a machine line operator for stocks.

 

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, Jennie; a daughter Anna Smith, a daughter-in-law, Michele Pescatore, and brother-in-law, Guido “Sonny” DeLuis and his wife Harriett; his grandchildren, Christopher Smith and Vincent and his wife Stephanie Smith, Kathleen Pescatore and Jimmy Pescatore and his wife Kelci and great-grandchildren, Ellie, Henry and Allison Pescatore. He was predeceased by a son Vincent A. Pescatore.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 10:30 am from The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY and at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish Church, Corner of East Main & John Sts., Little Falls where a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Terence Healy.  Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Calling hours at the funeral home are on Thursday morning prior to the beginning of the services from 9:30 - 10:30 AM. Arrangements are being handled by Harry & Kevin Enea and Martin Ciaccia (315) 823-2424.
