Obituary of Donald S. Hext

FRANKFORT – Donald S. Hext, age 93, of Frankfort, NY, passed away on Sunday December 9, 2018 at Sitrin Health Care Center, town of New Hartford, NY.

He was born August 13, 1925 in Mohawk, NY, a son of the late Peter and Inez (Dyer) Hext and was educated in schools there. He served our country during World War II with the United States Army, 1944-1946. He last worked with St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica in the maintenance department for over 26 years and did side contracting work for many years. He lived in Frankfort and raised his family there.

He is survived by his beloved family, Catherine (Christian) Hext who also resides at the Sitrin Home and is the mother of his children, his son and daughter – in – law, Randall and Sharon Hext of Rome, NY, his grandchildren, Melissa Kulik and her husband Michael of New Hartford and Lindsey Bukowski and her husband John of Woodbury, Minnesota, two great – grandchildren, Matthew Kulik and Morgan Kulik, his sister, Jean Lytwnec of Herkimer, a brother – in – law, Roger Harper of Rome, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Marion Helmer, Norma Harper, Dorothy Petrie and Anne Sohns, and his brother, Gerald Hext.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM at The Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road in Ilion, NY (town of Frankfort) with Father Paul Catena officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort in accord with military recognition. Calling hours for family and friends are Wednesday morning, prior to the funeral prayers at the funeral home, 9:00 until 10:00 AM.
