Our condolences to Father Vail’s family.
Father was our pastor at the church of St Peter in Saratoga for many years.
He was a priestly priest.
Our family enjoyed many nice times with him including a skiing trip to Lake Placid. Our children were honored to ride on his motorbike.
He fed our faith and we will be forever grateful.
May he Rest In Peace.

Fr. Vail was an instrumental part of my childhood, while we attended St. Gabriel's in Rotterdam. He was very close to my family and I remember him coming over for dinner and the ski/ bus trips we took from the church, when my mom was a chaperone.
I also remember how kind he was to our family when my mom passed away in 1988. He was very kind, and a great source of comfort to the entire congregation. May he rest in peace and know he was loved.

To his family and friends,
Father Vail will always be known as
“the gentleman priest”.
A humble intellect, Father earned a special and significant part in the soul and hearts of untold lives. The care and kindness he extended to so many will remain his legacy. As a genuine servant of God, he is a role model to the priests he taught and mentored. Father’s wisdom, ministry and support to countless parishioners in our diocese (especially St. Peter’s) is gratefully appreciated and will long be remembered. God blessed us with him and may he deservedly rest in peace.

Fr Vail was the pastor of my first assignment after ordination. I learned more from him in those short two and a half years than than I could imagine. His sense of humor and pastoral sensitivity touch so many. May the Lord receive His good and faithful servant into the joys of the kingdom.

Father Vail was always a treat to have a visit from. Quite often I saw him when he would visit with my snowbird parents, Hector and Shirley Allen while on travel in Florida. Aye it was a blessed St. Patrick's day when he would arrive at my house in Merritt Island for some spirited Irish festivities. He made a fine mark on our world and will be missed!
