Obituary of Kathleen M DeSimone

ILION – Mrs. Kathleen M. DeSimone, 80, of Ilion, passed on March 11, 2017 at her home surrounded by loving family. She was born on December 22, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Michael and Ann (Laverdi) Grillo. She was educated in Brooklyn schools and had lived with her beloved husband, Vincent P. DeSimone in Little Falls for many years. The couple were married on September 24, 1971 in Brooklyn and immediately thereafter moved to Little Falls. Mr. DeSimone passed on May 18, 2003. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish and was a former volunteer at Little Falls Hospital. Kathy filled our hearts with complete love and joy. She lived her life simply and elegantly. We never met a woman who could share the abundant love and kindness she had to offer with others. She was a very special lady and will always be remembered. She is survived by her two brothers, Bruce Grillo of Cazenovia, and Joseph Grillo (Bernadette) of Farmingdale, NY, a special cousin, Marilyn, and several other nieces, nephews and cousins, and extended family all of Ilion, NY consisting of: Katherine and Jeffrey Wildey, Lena and Mike Wildey, Julie and Joseph Sassone, and Karla Sedore, and seven adopted great-grandchildren, Sadie, Jeffrey, Isabella, Courtney, Margaret, James, and Joseph. A memorial life celebration service for family and friends alike will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 10:00 AM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer with Deacon Jim Bower officiating. This service has been established to commemorate the lives of Kathleen and Vincent DeSimone. Prior to the funeral service, please join us for a calling hour at the funeral home that morning from 9 until 10 AM. A spring graveside interment service will be held on Friday May 5, 2017 at 11:30 AM at Church Street Cemetery in Little Falls.
